Filo: studying and researching in the heart of Latin America

The Facultad de Filosofía y Letras, affectionately known as Filo, is one of the 13 schools that make up the University of Buenos Aires. According to the latest edition of the QS ranking, UBA is ranked 71st in the world, and first in the Spanish-speaking and Latin American world. Apart from that, the disciplines which are studied at Filo are among the best: Modern Languages ​​ranked 21st, Anthropology 24th, History and Geography ranked between 51st and 100th, and Education and Philosophy between 101st and 150th.

 

The School of Humanities offers 9 Undergraduate Programs, 11 Specialization Programs, 24 Master’s Degrees, 12 PhD Programs and 23 Research Institutes dedicated to various branches of the Humanities and Social Sciences. These institutes publish 30 high-level scientific journals and support a wide range of researchers and collaborative projects. The disciplinary areas covered are diverse: Anthropology, Archaeology, Arts, Cultural Studies, Education, Gender Studies, Geography, History, Interdisciplinary Studies, Library Science, Publishing, Linguistics, Literature, Modern Languages, Philology and Philosophy.

Our activities are spread across four locations: Puan and Bonifacio, 25 de Mayo, the Ethnographic Museum (in Buenos Aires) and Tilcara (in Jujuy). At these locations, we conduct academic and outreach activities, and publish books and collections, which are available online and open access.
